Never in a million years did we ever think that events would turn out like they did. What started out as a technical train wreck turned into a true triumph. As those at our summer bee school can attest to everything went beautifully until our final speaker of the day Bob Binnie. First we couldn't get his slides to work. Then the internet went down at the extension. Everyone was incredibly gracious especially Bob who made the suggestion that he come and offer his presentation on "How and Why You Should Focus on Varroa Resistant Genetics in a Commercial Apiary" to SOBA in person. Which of course every SOBA member there enthusiastically encouraged. After many phone calls back and forth between Bob and SOBA's Outreach and Education Coordinator Jena Harris, it was confirmed.
So mark it down on your calendar, invite your beekeeping buddies, and come out and meet this local legend, beekeeping great, and newest honorary lifetime SOBA member Bob Binnie. Even without the slides his presentation was amazing and inspirational, not just to commercial folks but all beekeepers. It is not something you are going to want to miss.
